From drf5n@mug.sys.virginia.edu Mon Aug 19 20:45:16 2002 Date: Fri, 16 Aug 2002 11:29:56 -0400 (EDT) From: David Forrest To: smugglersnet@yahoogroups.com Subject: Dave's side of the SD story My understanding that I'm sharing with the curious is: It is that Abstrakt Workshop started his campaign NOT at the behest of SN. Several members had individually contacted AW, but it wasn't really discussed on SN until Doug told us that AW chose him. I think the secrecy of SN made it an attractive scapegoat for SD to target: "If people are moving against me, it must be that secret organization with their plot to take over the galaxy." Maybe there /is/ a smuggler or two with dreams of galactic conquest, but it isn't the plan of the organization. Doug was very pleased and suprised to be chosen by AW. When the first stirrings of a movement against SD emerged, I think a couple postings (I should look them up: July 10th, Re: "The Wise Prophethood") decided that it might be a bad idea for a smuggler to run, since it would focus too much scrutiny on SN. SD is using SN as a scapegoat, used a spy himself when he was railing against a despicable spy in his own organization, lied about his vacation, the prophetbot, and even his recent statement about SN being the organization was an admitted lie: I have never victimised newbies for being misled. The guilty *are* wider spread, but it's useful to let them believe I am completely focused on SN. -- Graham Povey, Mon, 12 Aug 2002 17:33:09, private email to me ============================================ Graham's sent me this policy this morning: My position is simple - I regard all schismers and denouncers as legitimate targets, unless the captains involved have made approach to me directly to attempt reconciliation. Unauthorised denounce/schism is a hostile act, and either compensation (to me) or retribution will be the result. This will hold true whether the campaign is successful or not. Graham.
