Installing Red Hat 7.0 Linux on Toshiba Portege 3020CT notebook PC

I bought this 3 pound, 1" 6.4GB, 32MiB, 300MHz laptop for $1100 after watching it on www.pricewatch.com for a while

Standing on the shoulders of giants, I was greatly aided by several other documents:

• Lack of CD rom makes install a little trickier -- I copied RH7 to the DOS C: drive using samba/windows networking, used fips, and installed from there.
• XFree86 4.0.1 supports Neomagic MagicGraph128 in SVGA server
• Sound card (Yamaha OPL3sa2) through kernel module support

• 6.4GB ATA hard disk
• ATI Rage LT Pro graphics card
• 800x600 LCD screen
• Yamaha OPL3sa2 sound chip

I used fips to split the windows partition into two, then used the disk druid to partition /dev/hda as follows
